1. Length of continuous reach. Long uninterrupted reaches favour machines; highly segmented works with frequent structures reduce machine advantage.
2. Cross-section. Standard trapezoidal and U-shaped sections suit machine lining best; highly variable geometry requires more set-up time.
3. Concrete supply. Continuous machine output requires continuous concrete delivery — plan batching and hauling capacity accordingly.
4. Labour availability and cost. Mechanisation replaces large finishing crews and reduces dependence on skilled hand finishers.
